Synopsis:
Cally is taken over by an external force, and sabotages the Liberator; the ship plunges through space on a blind course, and is soon ensnared in a huge, fungous web suspended in the void. Jenna is used as a conduit for an alien force which contacts the crew and instructs Blake to teleport down to a nearby planet and hand over power cells, in return for which the Liberator will be released. Blake journeys to the planet, and encounters two human machines known as ‘The Lost’ – a group of Auron outcasts who have telepathically combined with the criminal body of a creature called Saymon. This entity is a criminal from Auron’s past, and who plans to use the power cells to exterminate the Decimas, small, laboratory-engineered creatures who have escaped their confines and begun to think for themselves. Blake refuses to go along with Saymon’s wishes, but the impasse is solved when the creatures break into the laboratory and destroy their evil creator, freeing the Liberator from its bonds.
